The Mizzou Law Tax & Transactional Competition took place Fall 2021 from October 29th - November 1st. The competition was put on by the Mizzou Law Tax and Transactional Society and was sponsored by Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP. Competitors gave thirty minute presentations to a panel of judges based off of a fact pattern released two weeks before the competition. Competitors acted as counsel hired by a large corporation to answer questions and provide a plan regarding the tax consequences of a proposed acquisition of another company. Panelists asked questions of the competitors as they presented, testing the depth of their tax law knowledge and their ability to think on their feet. My team and I advanced to the final round of competition, finishing among the top three teams.
